Pouring More Than Wine

People often ask what life at the winery is really like.
The honest answer? It’s a little bit of everything.

Some days are peaceful and slow — the kind where the vineyard feels quiet except for the breeze moving through the vines (OK, maybe it’s trees right now, but it WILL be vines) and the sound of glasses clinking in the tasting room. Other days are nonstop chaos filled with deliveries, events, music setup, last-minute problem solving, and trying to remember if anyone has eaten lunch yet.

But somehow, all of it becomes part of the charm.

Running a winery isn’t just about wine. It’s about people. It’s conversations across tables. It’s watching strangers become friends during live music on a Sunday afternoon. It’s seeing families gather together, bridal showers celebrated, book clubs laughing over a bottle of wine, and small businesses supporting one another during our vendor markets.

Those moments are what make the long days worth it.

There’s also a side of winery life people don’t always see. The early mornings. The cleaning. The stocking. The planning. The weather worries. The endless moving of tables and chairs. The harvest season exhaustion. The moments where you’re figuring things out as you go and hoping guests never notice the behind-the-scenes scrambling happening in the background.

Truthfully, wineries are built on a lot of heart.

We’ve always wanted Lubben Vineyards & Wine to feel welcoming — not overly formal or intimidating. Whether you know everything about wine or absolutely nothing, we want people to feel comfortable walking through our doors. We want this to feel like a place where you can slow down for a little while.

One of my favorite things is watching people discover “their” wine. Sometimes it’s a dry red they never expected to love. Sometimes it’s Strawberry Rhubarb. Sometimes it’s simply the experience itself — sitting with people they care about and making memories.

That’s really what this place is about.

Life at the winery is busy. It’s messy sometimes. It’s rewarding. It’s exhausting. It’s meaningful. And most of all, it’s deeply rooted in community.

We’re grateful every day for the people who choose to spend their time here, support local businesses, attend our events, and continue growing alongside us.

So if you’ve visited us before — thank you.
And if you haven’t yet, we hope you’ll come experience a little piece of winery life with us soon.

Cheers,
Judy
