A Little Bit of Everything
Some weeks are busy because of one big event. This week? It seemed like we had a little bit of everything happening around here.
We kicked things off with the first of our monthly Trivia Nights, and what a great turnout! It was fun to see so many people come out, put their knowledge to the test, and enjoy a little friendly competition. We’re excited to make trivia a regular event at the winery, so if you missed this one, there will be plenty more chances to join us.
Friday evening brought a wedding rehearsal dinner to the winery. We closed the tasting room for the private celebration, but kept the decks open for our other guests. And with the heat we’ve been having, we decided everyone needed a new way to cool off.
Enter the Popmosa—champagne with a popsicle. Simple, refreshing, and honestly, pretty delightful. Sometimes the best ideas come from trying to survive an Iowa summer!
Of course, winery life and family life have a way of happening all at once. Somewhere between events and vineyard work, grapes were picked, hay was baled, and Finnley got new soccer shoes. Just a normal week around here!
Saturday morning brought something new to the winery with our first Yoga at the Winery session. We even had guests make the trip from Iowa City to join us! September is Yoga Awareness Month, so the timing couldn’t be better. We’ll be hosting yoga every Saturday in September from 9:30–10:30 AM, followed by a wine tasting. A little stretching followed by a little sipping sounds like a pretty good Saturday morning to us.
Then came Sunday.
Somehow, I managed to accidentally schedule two musicians on the same day. Whoops! Instead of letting it become a problem, we decided to make the most of it—and what a day it turned out to be. The winery was busy, the music kept going, and everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time.
By the end of the day, we were tired and ready to start cleaning up when some of our guests actually stayed and helped us. It was such a simple act of kindness, but it meant more than they probably realized. To those who jumped in and lent a hand—thank you. We truly appreciated it.
And now it’s Labor Day.
After trivia, a rehearsal dinner, Popmosas, soccer shoes, hay, grapes, yoga, two musicians, and one very busy Sunday, a little rest and relaxation sounds pretty good. Whether Dan and I actually get any is another story!
We won’t have too long to rest, because there’s another full week ahead. Book Club returns Thursday evening, we’ll be back on the mats for Yoga at the Winery Saturday morning, and Brion Bowman returns Sunday for an afternoon of live music.
There’s always something happening at Lubben’s, and we hope you’ll find a reason to join us this week.
Happy Labor Day!
Cheers,
Judy
