Catching Up Around the Winery
The past couple of weeks have been a wonderful reminder of just how quickly summer flies by. Between special events, familiar faces, and community celebrations, there's never been a dull moment around the winery.
One of our newest additions to the calendar was Disney Trivia Night, and what a fun evening it turned out to be! We had a great group of participants who brought their Disney knowledge—and a little friendly competition—with them. The response was so positive that we're excited to make Trivia Nights a regular event beginning this September. Keep an eye on our events calendar and social media for more details. We can't wait to see what themes are next!
We also had the honor of hosting another beautiful wedding reception for close friends. There is something incredibly special about celebrating such important milestones with people who feel like family, and we're grateful they chose to celebrate at the winery. To the happy couple, we wish you a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and wonderful memories together.
As always, our Sundays have been filled with great music, wonderful company, and guests enjoying an afternoon of relaxing with friends and family. Live music has become one of our favorite traditions at the winery, and it's always rewarding to see the decks filled with smiling faces, conversations, and a glass of Iowa wine in hand.
The Jones County Fair also kept us busy from July 20–25. We enjoyed sharing our wines in the Craft Beer Tent throughout the week and had the opportunity to participate in the Main Beer Tent on Friday evening. The fair is always a great opportunity to visit with familiar faces, meet new people, and introduce even more fairgoers to Iowa wine.
A special congratulations goes out to our amateur winemakers for their outstanding accomplishments this year. We couldn't be happier for all of you!
Ron Waite earned first place in the Dry Red category with his Marechal Foch.
Laddie Nachazel took top honors in the Fruit category with Cherry Rhubarb.
Pete Schmidt won the Semi-Sweet Rosé category with his Marquette, Brianna & Gris Blend.
Congratulations to each of you! We love seeing the passion and craftsmanship that continues to grow within Iowa's winemaking community.
We wrapped up the week with another successful Art & Wine Showcase featuring local artist Greg Bordignon. Events like these are a wonderful reminder of how much talent we have right here in our own community, and we're thankful to everyone who came out to support both local art and local wine.
As we turn the calendar to August, we're looking forward to another busy weekend. Please note that the winery will be closed on Saturday, August 1, while we host a private wedding celebration. We'll reopen on Sunday, and we hope you'll join us for another relaxing afternoon of live music with Clara Lynch.
Thank you for continuing to spend your summers with us. Whether you're joining us for an event, stopping in for a glass of wine, or simply following along with our journey, we appreciate every visit, every conversation, and every bit of support.
Cheers,
Judy
