From Homecoming to the Wedding Show

This week brought a couple of firsts, a few surprises, and a whole lot more people than we were expecting!

Saturday was Homecoming, and with the Hawkeyes playing, we honestly expected things to be a little quieter around the winery. Game days usually mean fewer people for us—but apparently everyone is finally figuring out what we’ve known all along: wine and football absolutely go together!

We ended up with so many more people than we expected, and it was an awesome day. One of the biggest surprises? Shirley Temples were flying out the door! We had so many families spending part of their Homecoming day with us, and we loved every minute of it. Thank you to the parents who brought the kids along and let us be part of those memories. Seeing the winery filled with families, friends, Hawkeye fans, and plenty of black and gold made for a pretty special Saturday.

Then Sunday brought an entirely different kind of experience—our first-ever wedding show!

I’ll admit, walking into our first one was probably a little overwhelming. There was a lot to take in, plenty to learn, and so many people to meet. But by the end of the day, we were really glad we did it. We had some wonderful conversations with couples and families and got the chance to share what weddings at Lubben Vineyards can look like.

After hosting our first full winery wedding rental earlier this summer, it was exciting to be on the other side of things and talk with couples who are just beginning to plan their own special day. We learned a lot, met some great people, and walked away with plenty of ideas for the future.

Between a Homecoming Saturday that turned out to be anything but quiet and stepping into something completely new on Sunday, it was another weekend that reminded us how many different ways people are finding and enjoying Lubben Vineyards.

Sometimes you just have to try something new, learn as you go, and see where it takes you. This weekend gave us plenty of opportunities to do exactly that.

Thank you to everyone who spent part of their Homecoming weekend with us, brought the family along, stopped by our booth at the wedding show, or simply said hello. We’re glad you were part of it.
