Two Weeks, A Whole Lot of Memories

It’s been two weeks since I’ve sat down to catch you up—and what a two weeks it’s been! There’s been a little bit of everything happening around Lubben’s, and somehow October is already here.

We kicked things off with Dolly Day, and you all certainly understood the assignment! Between the Dolly-inspired specials, plenty of sparkle, donated children’s books, and live music, it was such a fun day. We loved seeing everyone get into the spirit of it and, even better, help us collect books to give back to our local communities.

Of course, there’s also been Hawkeye football. We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it—wine and football really do go together. Whether you’re watching the game or just looking for somewhere to spend the afternoon, we’re always happy to have you.

Our monthly Trivia Night brought another evening of friendly competition to the winery. We’ve really enjoyed adding trivia to our regular lineup and seeing teams come back ready to test their knowledge each month.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming the Class of 1976 for their reunion. There’s something special about watching old friends reconnect, share stories, and laugh about memories from years ago. We’re honored when people choose the winery as the place to celebrate those moments.

Outside, things are definitely starting to look like fall. The pumpkins are out, the winery has gotten its seasonal makeover, and Pumpkinfest brought even more people to Anamosa. A big thank you to everyone who made us part of their day while they were in town.

And through all of it, we’ve had plenty of live music, including our Sunday afternoons that continue to be one of our favorite ways to finish out the weekend. Good music, a glass of wine, and a winery full of people enjoying themselves is pretty hard to beat.

But there was one more celebration this weekend that was a little more personal.

Dan and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary.

Forty years. It’s hard to believe how much life can fit into those years—family, work, adventures, challenges, plenty of laughter, and eventually, a winery! Thank you to everyone who wished us a happy anniversary and helped make the weekend feel a little more special.

When I look back at the past two weeks, I think that’s what I love most about this place. One day we’re dressed up for Dolly Day, the next we’re watching football, hosting classmates who haven’t seen each other in years, listening to live music, or celebrating 40 years of marriage.

There’s always another memory being made around here.

And with Harvest Fest coming October 22–25, October is only getting started. We have so much planned, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Cheers,

Judy
