October Is Keeping Us Busy!

I’m beginning to think October might be giving September a run for its money!

The past couple of weeks have been filled with a little bit of everything, and somehow we’re already getting close to the end of the month. I’m not quite sure how that happened, but here we are!

We’ve had Book Club, another Girls Night Out, plenty of live music, and all the usual activity that comes with running a winery. It’s been fun watching some of these events become regular parts of our calendar. We love giving people different reasons to visit, whether they’re coming for a special event or just stopping in for a glass of wine.

Girls Night Out has been especially fun to put together. We love inviting other small businesses into the winery and giving everyone a chance to shop, visit, and enjoy an evening out. And of course, a little wine doesn’t hurt!

Meanwhile, fall has definitely arrived around here. The decorations are up, the temperatures are changing, and we’ve been having some fun with our fall menu. There’s just something about this time of year that makes you want to settle in with good food, good company, and maybe another glass of wine.

But if you’ve been following our Facebook page lately, you’ve probably noticed that Harvest Fest has taken over quite a bit of our attention!

And I mean quite a bit.

We’ve been gathering silent auction items, working with vendors, planning entertainment, figuring out all the little details, and probably adding a few more things to our to-do list than we should.

This year’s Harvest Fest is especially important to us because we’re raising money for the Anamosa and Monticello Fire Departments. Our goal is $10,000, and we’re hoping our communities will help us get there.

The fire service has a special place in our hearts, and we know how much these departments do for the people around us. We wanted Harvest Fest to be about more than just having a good time. We wanted to use it as an opportunity to give something back.

Of course, we’re still planning on having plenty of fun!

We’ve got live music, a vendor market, Hocus Pocus in the courtyard, costume contests, a silent auction, and even a little friendly competition between the two fire departments with their pumpkin decorating contest. I’m particularly interested to see how competitive that gets!

And none of this comes together without a lot of people working behind the scenes. From our staff to the vendors, musicians, businesses donating auction items, and everyone helping us spread the word, we appreciate every bit of it.

Dan and I have learned over the past two years that there’s always something new to try, something to improve, and usually something that doesn’t go quite according to plan. But that’s part of the adventure!

So, if you haven’t made plans for October 23–25, we’d love to have you join us for Harvest Fest. Come for the music, bring the kids, do a little shopping, bid on something fun, and help us support two departments that do so much for our communities.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m pretty sure there’s another Harvest Fest detail waiting for my attention!

Cheers,

Judy
